Look Book: Arabel Spring/Summer 2014 Gives Me Butterflies

I have to say, I am pretty thrilled to share this new collection from Arabel Lingerie. I met Sarah, the designer of Arabel Lingerie, way back when I took my first bra-making class at De Montfort University. Back then, she was an aspiring lingerie designer, particularly keen on making bras and lingerie that highlight small busts: now I’m so proud to show how far she’s come!

I actually reviewed a pair of knickers and a suspender belt from Arabel Lingerie a year ago, but I think I’m ever more excited about the direction that this collection is moving in. I am always a sucker for girly lingerie collections, but I particularly like the delicacy of these pieces. The Emily high-waisted bra pink knickers and the sheer bra are an utterly delicate delight.

One notable thing I should mention is the size range for Arabel’s underwire bras. They are available in 30B/30C/32A/32B, which is a narrow, but specific range that really targets those women who are too petite too fit into a lot of mainstream lingerie brands.

The bow at the back of the bra is actually an extra add-on, which I love because, honestly, the more bows the better! I feel like if you’re going for the bow back bra, you’ve also got to get the tie-side knickers.

 I adore this little Forget Me Not cami and knickers set– it’s almost too cute! It reminds me a little of Japanese lingerie and it seem like it’s frills would really flatter a small bust.

 And honestly, who would be able to resist those frilly knickers?

The Gunpowder robe has more of a grown-up and sophisticated  color palette, but the use of the delicate pleated chiffon adds a whimsical aspect that connects to the rest of the collection. What I love about this piece is that it could really fit into any lingerie drawer.

Despite my love of girly things, I am usually quite opposed to the idea of putting butterflies anywhere. I’m glad that not everyone has my prejudices, though, because I think that the butterflies on Arabel Lingerie’s robes may have changed my mind on this frontThe delicacy of the tiny butterfly appliqués are so fitting for lingerie and not at all cliché. If anything, they add an air of elvish enchantment, as if a flock of the tiny creatures had suddenly alighted on you.The close up shots are the ones that really let you see the delicacy of these pieces. The choice of white fabric gives the pieces a simple, unfussy air even as they give off a fairy-like quality.

For those of you who want your butterflies a little more visible, you would probably prefer these little blue ones. Again, the placement of the butterflies is so organic that it makes for a delicate, sophisticated piece.

I hope you’re enjoying this collection from Arabel Lingerie as much as I am– it’s such a treat to see work from someone who is so new to the game and yet has a sweet and intriguing look.
