I'm recommending this not because this first season is particularly good. It's not. I'm recommending the second season, "Gyokuza o Tsugu Mono", which is far superior in action, character development, writing and plotting. If you want to know more about Season 2 find my recommendation there.
As for this season, the mish-mash of costume styles aside, the characters are drawn and colored quite well, and there is a large variety of body shapes, so something for everyone to love. Unfortunately, nothing really happens. Characters meet, maybe have a fairly poorly animated fight, and few of the characters actually advance, especially our heroine, who sucks at fighting through almost the whole season.
